I spoke to a very dear friend of mine yesterday who shared with me about a beautiful Scripture memorization program for children that has been working very well for their family. She shared that her 1 1/2 year old sings Scripture around the house every morning and how blessed their home has been with the Word of God starting to resonate in their hearts. As she was sharing this with me, I was busy writing down on paper who this family is who set up the program and eager to go look it up for our family.
She then proceeded to tell me that she shared about it with her pastor’s wife recently. I am aghast at what the pastor’s wife then said. She said that she wasn’t interested and that it is too much for kids to learn. What Scripture came to my mind when I heard this conversation was this:
“Your word have I hid in my heart,
That I might not sin against Thee.” (Psalms 119:11)
What has become of the church that a pastor’s wife will tell a fellow believer that Children do not need to learn the Word of God? They allow the children to play with their tablets during the service but do not find it necessary to learn the Word of God. As my husband has shared a few times about various people, he shared that she should quit witnessing for Christ. I agree.
“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
